Berzinsky Architects and Banik Cumby collaborated on the initial stages of renovations to the Historic Union League in Philadelphia, PA. A six-phase master plan was developed with BLT, encompassing various spaces throughout this iconic Center City establishment. The first phase focused on the Historic Broad Street suite of rooms, which underwent a complete transformation. The entrance corridor was re-envisioned from a utilitarian space into an elegant pre-function area, welcoming members upon arrival from the grand Broad Street staircase. Working within the context of existing millwork and plaster decoration, the Heritage Room, Cigar Room, Old Café, and Meredith Room were redesigned. The renovation seamlessly integrated updates to the beloved Old Café bar, much to the membership's appreciation. Attention to detail in custom-designed millwork, carpeting, and furnishings revitalized this historic club, allowing its priceless artwork collection to shine.
